Hazelwood East Frehsman Invite
Well, a lot of surprises happened Wednesday, starting with a new and longer course. The course was changed from 2.4 miles to a full 5K! Early in the race, we were far behind a school from Missouri, but closed the gap as the race neared the finished. What I saw 600 meters out was us finishing in second place by about 5 points. As I approached the chute, I began hearing a little bit of controversy. It appears that the team that beat us did not only run freshman, but had sophomores, juniors, and seniors in the race as well. Their coach decided to let his entire team run and was trying to pull their finish cards at the finish. Since they were unable to quickly sort out the chaos that followed, we did not receive official results or medals, but I am sure we easily won and placed five runners definately in the top ten and four in the top five (maybe the top four places). In other words the freshman won easily and almost beat a varsity squad.
Here are the unofficial times for our athletes, courtesy of Sully:

I know this course has a tendancy to run slow and I am not 100% sure on the official distance. I was, however, pleased with the effort. Good job and congratualations.
