Copy of Parent Email From 8/30/2011
Dear Parents and Guardians,
I just wanted to take a moment and introduce myself and give you a few updates for this season. My Name is George Patrylak and I am starting my 7th year as Head Cross-Country Coach for Edwardsville High School. You should be very proud of your sons and daughters, as they have worked very hard so far this season. I am very excited about this season, as I honestly believe that we can qualify both a girl's team and a boy's team to this year's IHSA State Cross-Country Championship. Along with Coach Chapman and Coach McLendon, I will continue to work with your children to help them reach both individual and team goals this season. It is a pleasure and a blessing to get to work with your children each day.
The following is a list of important information that I would like to pass on to you:
1) Our team fund raiser has been extended until Friday, September 2, 2011. Each athlete was asked to sell five gift cards to Accelerate Fitness. The cards provide $200.00 worth of service for $20.00. All money and remaining cards should be turned in Friday. If your child is not able to sell all five cards, then please send a check for an additional $22.00 to cover the cost of the team shirt. The shirts this year are clearly a higher quality than previous team shirts and the personalized names on the back added to the cost. Any athlete selling all five cards will receive their team shirt for free. The fund raiser is designed to return partial payment to the EXCTF Booster Club for incredible new uniforms the girls are using this year and for replacement jerseys for the boys team that will be in for next season.
2) Saturday, September 3, 2011 is Granite City Invitational held at Wilson Park. It is a team tradition to have a picnic at the park after the race. The EXCTF Booster Club will provide burgers and hot dogs for all athletes and family members in attendance. We are asking for parents to volunteer to bring sides, chips, fruit, and/or snacks to picnic or to volunteer their skills by grilling. If you can help out, please email Susan Weshinskey, Vice President of Cross-Country (EXCTF Booster Club) at sweshinskey@wrh15.org. Thank you.
3) I am planning on having a short parent information meeting on Monday, September 12, 2011. In the meeting, I will discuss topics such as my training philosophies, how cross-country meets are scored, and other information that parents of first year high school runners may need to know. The meeting will be held at Tiger Country, which is the building located adjacent to the EHS Track. The meeting will start at 6:00 p.m. There will be a short EXCTF Booster Club Meeting immediately following for those parents interested. You are encouraged to attend.
4) The following is a list of home meets this year. All home meets are run at SIU-E, near the intersection of Old Poag Road and University Drive.
--Wednesday, September 7: Tiger Fall Classic
--Saturday, September 17: Edwardsville Invitational
--Friday, October 14: SWC Conference
--Monday, October 17: Tiger Finale
--Saturday, October 22: IHSA Regionals
We would appreciate you assistance as a volunteer for these meets if possible. We need help with concessions, t-shirt sales, course set-up, chute workers, parking, and other duties. Again, please email Susan Weshinskey at sweshinskey@wrh15.org if you can help.
I appreciate you taking the time to go over all of the information included in this email. I look forward to getting to know you and your children this year. Thank you in advance for dedication and commitment to your child(ren) and our program.
